Asatsu-DK Inc. signed an agreement with CowParade
Holdings (Connecticut,
U.S.) in September 2004 for the exclusive sales rights for the
CowParade, an regional revitalization arts events, in Japan and Asian
region including China.
CowParade is a public arts event that aims to attract visitors to areas
by providing life-sized unpainted cow objects (Cow Shapes) to artists to
paint in any way that they wish, which are then displayed on the
streets. Furthermore, these Cow Shapes are auctioned at the end of the
event and the proceeds will be returned to the community as general
funds for regional revitalization.
From Chicago to such cities as London and Stockholm, CowParade has been
held in cities in seven different countries to date, and is scheduled to
be held in Barcelona and Sao Paulo, among other cities, next year.
ADK held a CowParade in Japan in the Marunouchi district in September
2003 that was acclaimed for attracting eminent artists such as Katsuhiko
Hibino. This led to CowParade Holdings seeking to sign this agreement
with ADK as its sales partner for the Japan and Asian regions.
ADK intends to proactively take advantage of the CowParade sales rights
to acquire accounts from local governments and real estate firms who
have a great need for regional revitalization.
