February 18, 2003
Tokyo-headquartered Asatsu-DK Inc. (ADK; President
& Group COO, Koichiro Naganuma) has developed a mobile version of
"KNOTs", Internet-based
research system developed and run by ADK since 1997. ADK will start the
mobile
Internet research business under the name of "Mobile KNOTs" from
February 2003.
The first introduction of Java application into a system for continuous research
ADK has worked toward overcoming the various challenges and
problems that conventional "mobile research" had, as well as providing our customers
with an original menu which fully utilizes mobility and readiness of mobile phones,
and has introduced Java application into "Mobile KNOTs" as its method. In this
system, once a panelist downloads the Java application, "Research Appli" (Patent
pending), to his/her mobile phone, "Research Appli" will automatically start checking
if there is any survey request at regular intervals. This enables the system to
surely inform the panelist about the survey request, without having e-mail survey
requests as any conventional "mobile research" does, nor without panelist's losing
a chance to participate the survey due to consequences such as e-mail address
change or e-mail delivery delay. Furthermore, a response to the questionnaire
from an out-of-the-range area is made possible because Internet connection is
not required during the response, which was conventionally impossible. For the
first time in the world, the system is made available, that the once-downloaded
"Research Appli" can be repeatedly utilized by panelists for research in "Mobile
KNOTs".
ADK's unique "Research Appli" utilizing the mobile Java function of "Mobile KNOTs"
will make it possible to provide the true mobile research that can catch (research
on) living people's behavior and emotions more accurately and promptly as up-to-date
and direct information without relying on memories; "always carrying" (for spotting
respondents anytime), "on the spot"(for spotting respondents anywhere) "not effected
by connection status" (for not losing its research timing).
